"Frank was the last brother to come to the area and he didn't stay long. While there he did some roadwork and when Stifels had the McCoy Hotel and postoffice Frank kept the store for them for a few years. He and his son, Frank Jr. went to Alaska."

The Buchholz homestead on Buchholz Mesa. Nicholas is at the far left; Mary is wearing a hat and standing near the door. John, Mary Louise and Beulah Buchholz are also in the picture. There are mounted riders at far right and cattle at midground.
Buchholz Mesa was sold to E. M. Tabor and Nick and John opened a livery business in Eagle.

"In some respects similar to the preceeding picture [1992.004A.084], but taken about 1924. Trees obstruct a view of the Hotel and several buildings in back of it that haver never shown in any of the many photographs of McCoy. The little building in the foreground has served as living quarters for a number of people in past years, but is presently the McCoy Post Office. The small white building on the left was built by the Brooks Brothers in 1914....

Alexander Macdonell on horse. His family in Scotland called him Ackie or Ack; in Eagle, he was referred to as Alec. Alec was first employed on the Frank Doll ranch in Gypsum Valley. Then he leased land on the George Wilkinson ranch on Brush Creek, south of Eagle. After World War I and his marriage to Sadie Figgins, he returned to Eagle and moved to the Sproule ranch on Brush Creek. In 1923, he bought land from Charles Mayer and established his...
