This photograph of a young bull shiras moose (Alces alces shirasi) was captured by Vail Public Library Senior Librarian, Jo Norris. Observed browsing on red osier dogwood (Cornus sericea) leaf and twig, the moose enjoyed the native plant landscaping between Vail Public Library (VPL) and Gore Creek for much of the afternoon.

During the 1960s and into the 1970s, the Town of Vail had a Public Works building that was called "The A-Frame." From 1973 to 1978, "The A-Frame" was the primary site of Summervail Art Workshop (SAW).

This stately bull moose photograph was captured by Colorado Division of Wildlife officer, Bill Andree in fall of 2016. Andree's game warden territory included the Gore Creek Valley, Piney Lake and Piney River area of Eagle County, Colorado.
Andree noted that a willow dominant wetlands near Piney Lake is nicknamed "Bullwinkle Alley," due to the prevalence of moose.
