John Duran was the Vail Fire Chief, while John Gulick served as Assistant Fire Chief. Also involved were Vail firefighters Mike Vaughan, Dave Eich and Craig Davis.

During the 1960s and into the 1970s, the Town of Vail had a Public Works building that was called "The A-Frame." This stately bull moose photograph was captured by Colorado Division of Wildlife officer, Bill Andree in fall of 2016. Andree's game warden territory included the Gore Creek Valley, Piney Lake and Piney River area of Eagle County, Colorado. Andree noted that a willow dominant wetlands near Piney Lake is nicknamed "Bullwinkle Alley," due to the prevalence of moose.
