In 2020, Vail Rotary Club celebrated its 50th anniversary of service to Eagle County, Colorado and the world community. Johnnette Phillips spent many years as a civil servant in Eagle County, Colorado. She served as Eagle County Clerk & Recorder from 1978 to 1992. In 1992, Phillips was elected Eagle County Commissioner and served in that capacity until 2000.

Vail Rotary Club, formally chartered as Rotary Club of Vail - Eagle Valley, was established on 9 June 1970. It was the first international service club organized in the community.
