Featured near the front of in the Vail Public Library galleria is a bronze plaque commemorating the library's dedication on 4 July 1983. Snowdon and Hopkins Architects was named the best design in a Vail Town Council timed architectural contest. The design received an Award of Excellence given jointly by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and American Library Association (ALA).

"The Ski Trooper" bronze sculpture concept was inspired by 10th Mountain Division veteran Donald E. Traynor. Based upon the bronze sculpture by Victor Issa, “The Ski Trooper” was created by Colorado artist Scott Stearman. Alice "Widge" Ferguson is depicted holding a Widge's Ridge sign while standing behind her family's ski retreat at the Edelweiss in Vail. Widge's Ridge is located in Sun Down Bowl on Vail Mountain.
